A note from the founder

Hilltops is for the people trying to connect with the city around them. Travellers landing somewhere new. Students looking for community. Locals chasing a great night. Anyone hunting the next event worth showing up to. The goal is a platform that helps all of them, in every city, starting with Australia.

Where we are today: Promote is live for every approved partner, and you are among the first partners on the platform running real venues, real communities, real events. Beta testers each have $100 in promote credit in their wallets to help us test and refine the system before broader launch. We are building from Melbourne outward, one city at a time.

The way value compounds is straightforward. People open Hilltops to find what is happening around them: the venues, events and communities you run, alongside the plans and activities other users put together themselves. The more partners here, the richer that picture, and the bigger the audience for each event, bolstered by the social activity happening within the app. Because you are building Hilltops with us, the program is designed so you benefit most.

Four ways to earn

Earn wallet credit to spend on your events.

Tracks stack. A single account can earn from all four. Credit lands in your Hilltops wallet, is for platform use only, and never expires while your account is open.

How reach and cost work

Reach is calculated before each send. You are only charged for new (non follower) people reached. Your existing followers receive the push for free.

As a rough anchor: $100 of credit reaches roughly 1,000 new people in one broadcast.

Track A

Grow your following

Each milestone of organic followers earns credit. Real audience growth, the kind that compounds for every future event.

Each milestone paid once per account. Fake or paid for followers are ineligible. We review high velocity spikes by hand.

Track B

Drive real world scans

Generate your Hilltops QR inside the platform and put it on posters, tickets, table cards, door signage. Each unique scan of that platform issued QR counts.

Only scans of the QR generated in your venue or account settings count. Third party or hand made QRs do not. Same device counts once per 30 days. Bot traffic and self scans excluded.

Track C

Refer a socially compatible host

Bring another venue, club, promoter or experience host to Hilltops. When they are approved and publish their first event, you earn $200.

Eligible referrals are socially compatible curators and communities: bars with events, sports clubs, live music venues, promoters, experience hosts. Private hire only, table service only and corporate only businesses do not qualify.

Share meaningful feedback

Tell us what is working, what is broken, what is missing. Feedback that informs a product change earns credit. Bug reports, feature ideas, interviews, written reflections.

Things people ask before they participate.

How is reach calculated and what am I charged for?
Reach is calculated for each broadcast before it sends. You are only charged for new (non follower) people reached. Your existing followers receive the push for free, so growing your following directly reduces what each broadcast costs you. As a rough anchor, $100 of credit reaches roughly 1,000 new people in one broadcast.
How does the wallet credit work?
Credit is for Hilltops platform use only. It lands in your Hilltops wallet and is spendable exclusively on Promote broadcasts inside the platform. It is not cash, cannot be redeemed for money, cannot be transferred to another account or off the platform, and never expires while your account is open. When you spend, awarded credit is used first so your purchased balance is preserved.
Can I earn from more than one track?
Yes. All four tracks stack. A single account can earn from follower milestones, QR scans, referrals and feedback independently. The only cap is per track: each milestone tier and each referred account is paid once. Feedback awards are unlimited in number but discretionary in amount.
What counts as "meaningful feedback"?
Feedback that materially informs a product change. A detailed bug report that leads to a fix, a feature idea we ship, a recorded interview, a written case study. Routine support enquiries, repeat reports of a known issue, and feature wishlists without detail do not qualify. Send to support@hilltops.app or reply to any Hilltops email. Hilltops decides on impact and amount.
What counts as a "socially compatible" referral?
Operators whose offering is built around regular, public facing or inclusive members social events. Bars with events, sports clubs, live music venues, promoters, experience hosts. Private hire only venues, table service only restaurants and corporate only operations do not qualify. The full taxonomy lives in the Program Terms.
How are scans verified?
Only the QR you generate inside Hilltops, from your venue or account settings, is tracked. Third party or hand made QRs do not count. Each scan resolves to a tracking endpoint that records the scanning device. The same device counts once per 30 day window. We exclude bot traffic and review high velocity scan bursts by hand before crediting.
When is credit paid?
During beta, awards are reviewed and granted manually within 7 days of the trigger. You will see a confirmation in the Notifications panel on your dashboard.
What if I drop below a follower milestone after earning?
Once an award is granted, the credit is yours, subject only to the forfeiture rules in the Program Terms (fraud, account suspension, chargeback). A natural drop in follower count does not trigger clawback.
When does beta end?
We have not set a fixed end date. When the program graduates from beta we will notify partners at least 30 days in advance. Any change to reward amounts applies prospectively only. Awards already granted are unaffected.
Can Hilltops decline a reward?
Yes. We reserve the right to decline, reverse, or forfeit any award where we reasonably suspect fraud, misrepresentation, abuse or breach of the Hilltops Business Portal Terms. The Program Terms set out the specific grounds.
What happens to my credit if Hilltops shuts down?
If we ever permanently close the platform we will give partners at least 30 days’ notice where practicable, so you can use your wallet balance first. On closure: awarded promote credit is forfeited (it is a promotional inducement, not cash). Purchased credit is treated under Business Portal Terms §8.4. We will use reasonable steps to refund the unused portion, subject to applicable insolvency law. Your statutory consumer rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected.
